at the beach, nothing begets urine & salt
while spitting up yesterday’s petals

__________I try to fold one into an aphid
someone replaces the lifeguard with wine

this is where the line begins, every morning
a constant bleeding of seagulls & white

_______________ I swallow a bee
learn that volume is an illusion of space

look at this cavern under my nose, watch
all of the fireflies disappear into wet

& grow into a pepper of dazzling tapestries
sewn from the brightest metals

_________ a transmute inherits my name
& my throat grows turquoise under the sand

the bee knows two things about narrative
_______________forgive me & let me through
