PATRICK HAAS WHISPERING BACK TO LARESSA DICKEY

They were close in the ILK FOUR alphabet and now they are closer, as Patrick Haas has woven himself into Laressa Dickey’s GOOD POSTURE (here to read) and meshed a new poem. Read together for maximum effect!

orphan
our mothers once
like pollen, not
a song from their

lips, double secret
as an eye
asking show me

the way around
this dragon circling
like dead leaves

in a circle about
the field at this
moment I am thinking

in circles tell me
it can’t unravel
me tell me it is

enough to drive
us all insane, I
secretly like not

believing I couldn’t
fly, our mothers
like trees once

dreaming of that
dragon singing
them into fire
